Hi there,
Toyota Canada had a promotion a few months back that gave you a trip for two if you bought a car. We did and were awarded a brief 'luxury' trip for two. The options are:
1) Las Vegas (2 nights, 3 days, plus flight)
2) Cancun (4 night, 5 day, NO flight)
3) Carnival Cruise (4 night, 5 day, NO flight)

The company that's offering the promotion si called Travel America and the program is called Diamond Getaway. I've been searching high and low on the internet to find out more details that would help me make my decision. The big decision is the Vegas Hotel. If the trip allowed us to stay at a top end hotel, I'd book vegas but if it's a 2nd or third or worse tier hotel, I"d probably book the cruise (Mexico is not of interest to us at the moment).

So, my question is not so much, which would you choose, but rather, does ANYBODY know anything about these packages or this company? I've called them and receive a recorded message that outlines the exact info that's in my brochure and there is no way to get a live person to ask, What hotel in Vegas?

Has anybody head of it or them or can anyone point me toward some more info? And, if I'm lucky enough to find someone who's actually taken this package, what did you think?

Thanks!

I found the site re: info. on this promotion. There is a number you can phone:

(Please read the Terms and Conditions. For more information, you can call 1-866-977-2929}

or

Could you call and ask the Toyota dealer about it or ask them who to contact?

I've paid to be on the Carnival ships and IMO it isn't worth paying for a flight to Fla., California or the Caribbean for a 3-4 night cruise on one of their ships plus all the port taxes, as well.

I'd take the Las Vegas trip and extend it. Most of the hotels on the strip are nice enough, but I don't blame you for trying to find out airline and hotel details.

With the airline taxes being over $200 (probably per person), you could do better yourself booking a 4 night hotel and airfare weekend in Las Vegas out of Buffalo. Are you from Canada?

Let us know what you work out.

Thanks for the reply.

I actually did call the number and got the same recording - I couldn't speak with a live person to ask about vegas hotel specifics. My hunch is that it's a lowish end hotel and that they will try to talk me up to a nice hotel for a fee. If they put the lower end hotel on the website, no one would book the Vegas option, however, so they leave it vague.

Thanks for your info on the cruise - more and more I'm leaning toward Vegas.

In terms of specifics, the website indicates airport taxes of $129 (per person) flying out of Toronto. The taxes are less, maybe about $80 per person, to fly out of a US city like Buffalo. I'm located about an hour from Buffalo (about 20 minutes from Toronto), so that's an option for me.

I can't believe how hard I've worked to try to find info on the package! I mean, someone out there must have gone on these Travel America vacations and has opinions on it! But, you wouldn't know it by searching Google. I've tried variations of the company name plus 'review' to see if I can get some reviews. Any suggestions to find better informations would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve.

(2 NIGHT VEGAS GETAWAY
It's valid for two nights hotel accommodations (double occupancy) and two
airline tickets from an approved point of origin to Las Vegas, NV.

It does not include the costs of food, beverages, gratuities, ground
transportation, or incidental expenses.

Taxes are $98 US per person for a total of $196 US to depart from
a major US International Airport. Taxes are $117 US per person for a total of $234 US to
depart from a pre-approved Canadian International Airport.

A non-refundable $40.00 US check or money order)

This is what I found on the site's terms and conditions of agreement.

It's kind of like some phone call campaigns I've received...you pay money for the "free trip".

You can UPGRADE...to business class seats, and nicer hotel through calling them, if you can find someone to talk to in person.

If it was me, I'd forget it, book and pay for a trip of my own choosing. By the time, taxes, upgrades, transportation upon arrival/departure it'll probably cost you as much as booking your own holiday.
