I read this article in a recent edition of Coastal Living magazine: "25 Favorite Seafood Dives"

I love seafood, and dives, too - if I'm in the right mood Wink but have only been to one of the places listed in the article!

And IMO Wahoo's Fish Taco is not even close to a dive. It's a chain of clean cut casual restaurants - order at the counter, wait for your number to be called, pick up food served in baskets. How can a chain restaurant be a dive? Confused

However, if you click on the link at the end of the article for "West Coast Seafood Dives" you'll see a listing for Chez Jay in Santa Monica. Now *that's* what I call a dive! Thumbs Up

Man, how could they miss Ship Bottom Shelfish on LBI - okay maybe it's not a "dive" but it's tiny and has good seafood. And then there's the Holiday Clam bar (I think it's still there) in Beach Haven - that's just a counter and picnic tables...

Star Fish Company in Cortez Florida , close to Sarasota and Longboat Key. Started out as a fishing company. You eat on the pier and it takes a while to get the heaps of Very fresh seafood becasue everything is done to order .While you wait, you watch the " Pelican Lady" feed her flocks and say hello to the fishermen who pull up to sell there fish to Star. Heaven.

This one is on a par with Star Fish, but one can sit with a roof overhead if it is raining or too hot to sit outside:

A fried grouper sandwich, plus peel'em shrimp and a cold beer make for a great lunch.

Haha, agree with you on Wahoo's. That place is all hype.

Love's Seafood & Steaks is a must try. I've only tried the crab stew and gumbo. Both were hits. If you're anywhere near the south, make a stop to Savannah. One of the most prettiest cities ever.
