Just a side note for Southern Californians or visitors to SoCal: The San Diego Natural History Museum of Art special exhibit: "A Day in Pompeii" ends in one week June 15th. If you can't get to Italy this is a chance to go back 2000 yrs. and experience life and death of this once thriving sea port city. The exhibit displays more than 250 artifacts, body casts, frescoes and a film. This is a great Pompeii introduction or re-visit opportunity. Very worthwhile. Barb Cabot

I saw this exhibit in March, and agree that it's very well done. We missed seeing the film, but the audio tour was good, with helpful details about the pieces. I thought the Vesuvius eruption timeline on the wall was especially interesting.
