We are off to Kauai & Oahu next week - for a week. I know, its too short. We have been several times and this opportunity just surfaced. This is our first time to visit in Feb/March. I am excited at the possibility of seeing whales! Any hints on best place to spot the whales on the two islands?

Thanks!

We've spent hours the past few days watching whales -- it's hard to tear ourselves away the sight of their breaching and spouting. I don't know about Kauai, but the North Shore of Oahu is a great spot for whale-watching. Have a wonderful trip!

Aloha, Ann

Pauline wrote up some great travel notes for Kauai on the SlowTrav.com site. She mentions that she really likes the island in the winter months.

Girasoli, I love your blog! My husband and I love both Italy and Hawaii - they are our favorite destinations! We may get to Italy this October - that would make it two great places in one year!

Ann, we will be on the lookout for whales! We plan to drive to the North Shore of Oahu, and we are staying on the North Shore of Kauai. I think our chances are good from what you say, and from what I have read.

Colleen, thanks for the reminder to check out the travel notes! Is this a great board or what? That is why I am a dues paying member - I may not be around all the time, but it is a valuable site and money well spent!

Aloha and Mahalo.

Thanks Doris. I have tried to strike a balance between Hawaii and Italy on my blog.

I agree regarding the value of this board. Not only have I learned great tips but I have made new friends. Don't forget to give us a report when you return. I am always wanting to know more about Kauai, my favorite island.

Have a great trip!!
