Robert, I hadn't had a chance to read it but will do so tonight! Also, thanks for posting the photos, they are great!

Robert,
That looks like a nice little place to stay - sure reasonably priced! And if beach access was no problem, I'd sure consider it.

I think you are seeking the same thing kind of tropical place that we are. We don't want to be in an insecure situation, but we want to be in a "real" place. We don't want to be in a resort that is isolated from the people of the region or their natural settings.
Cancun is everything I don't want. We enjoyed Isla Mujeres twice. We are seeking other places, Mexican or Caribbean, maybe Belize, that would give us the ocean, a nice little nest, a beach, and the sun. We don't want glitz and we don't play golf. We do love to snorkel. We're trying the Turks and Caicos next month. We LOVE Tortola, but its become so costly.

Thanks, Robert, for your trip report. I'll file it away under good ideas.

Linda, we went on a tour in the Sian kaan reserve and they have accomodations as well, not a resort (in the usual sense of the word)

Ooooo - I love this place, at least what I can see on first look at their site. I'll do more research.
Thanks!

Linda its a 20 minute or less drive into Tulum so you could go there to get a town day or two(bronco chicken!) or try a different beach, like the Ana Y Jose club (south of town so is 10 minutes away). In a way the photos do not do it justice unfortunately I only had a disposable camera but it sits on a peninsula so one side is a lagoon and the other the ocean, the tour is great if you don't mind being in a outboard boat etc.
