“We’re not taking reservations for Yosemite Lodge or Curry Village,” said Kenny Karst, public relations manager for DNC Parks & Resorts, which operates lodgings at the park. “We’re all sold out.” There are, however, some rooms left at the landmark Ahwahnee Hotel.

I remember reading somewhere that people were staying closer to home for vacations and that these types of trips were becoming more popular due to the economy. One of these years, we'll get out west to visit our national parks - there are so many things to do and see!

Anyone who has been to Yosemite, should plan a trip soon. It really is breathtaking!

I called for reservations this last week and they still have some limited openings for the summer. They start taking lodging reservations one year and a day in advance. Some facilities book up within minutes. Accommodations range from tent camping to a luxury resort.

I just checked on line and they are still taking reservations for Curry village (tents) and Wawona (old fashioned lodge, only rooms with shared bath are still available). We hope to go in august for several days, so are looking for accommodations.

Thanks for the update!
I wonder if people canceled after the story about the rock slide, or maybe Yosemite's been able to open up some of the cabins.

Another Yosemite update. I found out from reading a lot of posts on tripadvisor.com that accommodations often open up in Yosemite due to people booking blocks of spaces way ahead, then canceling. You have to check on the Website several times a day. Also, there's a sort of "musical chairs" procedure, where people will book whatever comes up first, then book something else that com,es up later if that is more to their liking, and cancel the earlier reservation. We managed to get a reservation for 2 days in august at Curry Village, for one of their tent cabins, but I keep looking every day anyway in the hope that we can get something reasonable with a bathroom. Wherever we stay, we're really looking forward to our visit.
