We're back from 6 days in Ottawa and had a wonderful time. The Lord Elgin hotel was a good fit for us, very conveniently located. We had pleasant sunny weather except for our last full day. Many thanks to all the help received from Slow Trav folks. Trip report with photos and reviews to follow.

Photo Quiz: UFO or Ottawa landmark?

Cruising the Rideau Canal on Friday June 5th. Canadians are walking and wearing red in support of men and women in the military.

Jerry, I meant no disrespect to the National Gallery. It is a very impressive building, inside and out. However I'm up for seeing some of your DC pics anyway. Happy

Jeannie, I really like the photo: our National Gallery, connecting with the universe!

Thanks, Doru. That was the feeling I had when I saw that brilliant reflection. Here's a photo of the National Library's dome from the Peace Tower. One of the pamphlets I read said that it was inspiration for the National Gallery's dome, which is quite apparent to me. I really enjoyed the whole cityscape.

Now, I promise this is the last oversized pic I will post. I'll get some tutoring on resizing , promise.

Great photos, Jeanne! And it looks like decent weather, for once, in Ottawa.

I'm sorry we weren't able to meet in Ottawa -- but not sorry that I'm still in Italy.

Hope you enjoyed your trip.

Cheers,
Sandra

I grew up in Ottawa. I particularly like your shot of everyone dressed in red walking along the canal. I rode my bike along the canal countless times for pleasure, between Carleton and Ottawa U to meet up with friends and, when I graduated, to get to work. The two waterways winding through the city make it very picturesque.
