Has anyone been to Disney World recently? Would you rec. for adults. Is there ever a time that it isn't as crowded? Do you think end of May beginning of June would just be a blowout bc all of the kids are getting out of school? Has anyone gone to Disney w/ just adults? Would you rec?

As someone who lives in the shadow of the Mouse, the best times to visit the parks with low lines and great weather are the first few weeks of December: after the Thanksgiving holiday and before Christmas.

As for adults, EPCOT is the best as the World Showcase at the a great place designed for adults. The park itself also lends itself to more adult themes than thrill rides or kiddie stuff. It's my favorite of the Disney Parks. Animal Kingdom also isn't bad for adult if you avoid the crazy rides.

For an adult, the Magic Kingdom is still the designed for kids but if you love Disney, you'll spend time on the Pirates ride and the Haunted House... still love 'em.

Another great park to visit in Orlando, and my FAVORITE park is SeaWorld. You don't need to do the shows but can wander throughout the place viewing the sealife while heading over to the hospitality pavilion near the Clydesdale barn for some free beer and a nice lunch by some of the most beautiful plantings ever.

In June, it will be hot and as Southern schools let out in May, the crowds will be here!

Oh, and we went for 5-6 nights mid-December, just before the Xmas rush. Some rides had no lines; some were still long. The express pass was definitely useful. Everything was beautifully decorated for the holidays. There was a holiday concert by candlelight in Epcot that was nice. This was a family vacation, so can't comment on Adult only vacation, though I would think the whole Pleasure Island would accomodate that.

Some advice, please...it looks like we'll be in Orlando for a few days around a football weekend. We want to take our daughter, and that means staying on site at DisneyWorld. Even though she's 30, she still loves the Disney experience! Can someone give me some direction for lodging? I think we'll need two rooms, and I don't want to spend $3,000 for five nights for the two rooms!
Which of the resorts would be more "adult"??

Are you looking to stay on Disney property? As for the the facilities that are more 'adult', well, you are in the House of the Mouse and they do cater to the children on all levels UNLESS your are in Pleasure Island and even then there is a juvenile flare to it.

If you stay on property (Disney owned grounds)there are quite a few that are better values like the Port Orleans, Coronado Springs and Caribbean Beach which are all quite nice and have the full use of the Disney transportation system.

However, if you opt for off property which are non Disney owned, many of which have transportation to/from the parks, you can save quite a bit more and will be a little more adult.

As a local, we used for a weekend getaway, a great resort owned by Sheraton, called Vistana Resorts. They are condos with 1, 2 and 3 bedroom set ups and are gorgeous! You can get a 2 bedroom for about $189 a night with a full kitchen, laundry, living room and balcony! It has a main pool and one called the 'quiet pool' where the adults go... no kids jumping in/out and carrying on. Jacuzzi tubs, snack bar, etc.

There are others like Westgate Resorts as well that also offer similar options.

Hi, Doug, and thanks for the reply. We are in the planning stages of this Disney trip and for now, we're trying to do without a car. I think hubby and daughter would love to stay onsite and it would facilitate them going off for a few hours while I stay behind...

I'll check out the villas that you've recommended, both onsite and off, and we'll see what the two of them think...

We have stayed on Disney property several times and have enjoyed all their properties...each one had its own special "something" that made it enjoyable.

We very much enjoyed the Coronado Springs, Wilderness Lodge, Port Orleans and the Swan.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of some of the resorts is the available transportation--if you choose, you don't ever need a car.

However, even though the busses got you to the parks, we found that we so much more enjoyed the boat rides and the hotels closest to the parks. The busses were sometimes crowded and no seats were available.

For adults, I would recommend almost all of the moderate and deluxe hotels, with the exception of the Contemporary...it wasn't nearly as charming as the others. The hotels with the great pools also attract lots of kiddies.

The Swan was very adult oriented because it is often used by business groups...the Dolphin is more child oriented.

What a great summary...sounds like what I need to know. I've priced out a jr. suite at Coronado with the meal plan and tickets to the park for 6 nights and it's running around $3800...and we would need two rooms at the Swan, but I may look at that today. Thanks so much for your posting.

The Swan has great deals if you are a teacher, nurse or member of the U.S. military. They also usually have special deals for holiday weeks/weekends. Give it a try…you never know what will happen.

As an aside, we booked a regular room at the Wilderness Lodge one year. When we checked in, the fellow at the desk asked if I “believed in Disney Magic.” Of course, I said yes. He then proceeded to upgrade us to a room with a balcony in a very desirable location.

Love that Disney magic!!!
