We are leaving Thurs afternoon and I have done very little research for this trip. It will be, to some extent, going home. But--we would love to do a wine tasting day while we're in Aptos (Seascape Resort, 4 nights).

Does anyone know a couple of nice wineries we could go to?

Are any of them open on Sunday?

Thanks,
jan

Hi Jan,

Did you see my reply on your chocolate cake post?

If not, let me repeat that Bonny Doon vineyard is in the Santa Cruz Mountains, off Highway 9, I think. Closer to you in Aptos is the Bargetto Winery tasting room in Soquel. Here's a link to wineries in the area; they should be open on Sundays : Santa Cruz area wineries.

We stayed at Seascape years ago on a summer trip with the kids - beautiful views from up there on the cliffs.

Thanks Marcia--

I have been so busy EATING the cake, I forgot about the post. I will look now.

Thanks for the link, too.

Bargetto looks like a good option, too. Hope there's a cute blonde there Wink

The cute blond tells me that she's working on Saturday, not Sunday, next week, so since you'll be having lunch in Berkeley, think you will miss her. But the wine tasting room is nice; there's a brook running through the property which you can see from their deck.

My confession: I spent many an afternoon in my senior year of college at UCSC out on that deck. Full disclosure.

Have a great trip; will be there in spirit with you.

I haven't been to Bargetto's lately, but if you go there, you should also visit their "sister" winery up in the mountains above Soquel.

The wines are superb, and the view from the winery is just gorgeous.

I can also recommend Bonny Doon - I really like their wines, and we (a group of 6) were treated well in the tasting room a few weeks ago.

The Bonny Doon tasting room is on Bonny Doon Road, a right turn off of Hiway 1, as you head north toward San Francisco. About 30 minutes from Aptos.

FYI - there's a new wine bar/shop in downtown Santa Cruz that only carries wines from the Santa Cruz area. Nice staff, and the wines are reasonably priced. Their address is "Front Street," but they're actually tucked into a courtyard on Cooper Street. http://www.vinocruz.com

Have fun! Wine

I'm highjacking Jan's thread to say thanks, Colleen; I remember you telling me about the sister winery and now I have the links for our June week.
