We are considering an early June visit to Naples, and I think we've whittled the choices down to either the Ritz Carlton Naples or the La Playa Resort. The prices for each are fairly comparable, with the Ritz a little more expensive during this off season. We're just not sure which one would provide more for our kids, aged 11 and 13. The Ritz's kids' offerings seem geared to littler ones, yet there does seem to be a lot to do around the property. But, the La Playa looks a little more laid back and tropical to me, which is what I was hoping for. My husband is the one worrying about the kids being entertained--we are planning on being there for 6 nights. Has anyone stayed at either property or have any insights?

Hi Tara,
Have you thought of calling each hotel's concierge, and asking about offerings/entertainment options for kids? I'd expect them to be able to describe what's available.

I have not stayed at La Playa but have at the Ritz. For little ones, it could be a bit stoggy... It carries an older clientele and seems to stuffy for our tastes and we're in our late 50's!

Tropical for kids is better...

Well, we ended up deciding on Disneyworld. I know it sounds crazy and not relaxing at all, but since we've been a few times and the kids are getting a little older, we think it will be a more slow-paced trip. We decided to stay at the Yacht Club for the tropical feel (I understand the pool area is wonderful--the best at Disney) and the proximity to our two favorite parks, Epcot and Disney Studios. We also opted for the dining plan for an all-inclusive feel (I love not having to have to pay for meals when we're there--I like acting like it was free Wink)Given the choice, the kids said they'd rather go there than the beach. I think it really just comes down to the fact that we are simply not beach people, even though we've tried. (I get really sunburned anyway, lying on the sand! Red Face)

Thanks for your help, though!!

Sounds like you made the right choice for your family, Tara. SlowTrav doesn't have any Disney hotel reviews - please write one for us when you come back! Smile
