Well, it is very early in the morning here in Seattle and 37 degrees! We left Cabo yesterday after a two hour flight delay as there was a Continental airlines plane that the landing gear was damaged and was blocking the runway.

I am actually amazed it took them only two hours! We were ready to go back to town and spend another couple of days.

It was 87 degrees when we left and we are missing it already. Cabo has not changed alot except for a get this a Walmart and Home Depot on the corridor outside of town about 3 miles. What it does show of course is that it is still a local community with locals still living there which is what we like.

The dowtown part of Cabo remains pretty much the same. It is not a man made resort and you can still find plenty of little restaurants run by Mexican families, which we frequented often.

The food was fantastic as in previous years. We had lobster three times and fresh fish almost every day. The shrimp are to die for and every place we went had fresh local catch that day.

Most combo plates are about $15. Not bad for a small lobster tail, a fresh filet of Mahi Mah a few shrimp and fresh vegetable and rice. I had shirmp quesadillas almost every day with hand made corn tortillas. You can go to the local places or if you wish there are high end places where you can spend spend spend. We chose the former, the latter you can get here.

We did not have one bad meal.

Las night we went to an Italian restaurant for the first non-mexican meal all trip and had a gorgeous Filet Mignon with Fettucine Alfredo for $22 each it was wonderful. Comparable meal like this in Seattle would have been double that.

Downtown Cabo still has a bit of a gritty feel which is in stark comparison to the lovely Marina with many fantastic and expensive yachts in the harbor.

We took the water taxi to the beach every day and the water was crystal clear. We got in our lounge chairs ordered a bucket of cervasas and proceeded to relax for the day. It was heaven.

The hotel where we stayed is one of the best values in Cabo and we were not dissapointed. It is still run by the same family since the early 60's-70's, I believe. They even remembered us!

We had a room with a circular patio looking over the pool for $60 per night. No tv no phone but lovely air conditioning. That's all we needed. This hotel is right DT and is very quiet and does not tolerate spring break like behaviour.
It is called the Mar de Cortez, if you google it it will come right up. I will do a hotel review though.

My husband went Marlin fishing one day and had a blast!

They have recently put in a big mall on the Marina which is high end and has lovely shops again, if that's what you like.

We were delighted that Cabo was not too crowded as well, we were not sure how it would be before Xmas.

Cabo has a bit of everything for everybody. You can do quiet or you can party like a rock star. You cannot beat the beaches and the local people, very friendly and happy!

Have a Merry Xmas everyone!

Sounds like a wonderful winter getaway!

I haven't been on vacation in Mexico for years (disregarding one-day cruise stops) ... it might have to go back on 'the list'!

Welcome home. Smile

Lesfaye,

I too want to thank you for posting. You have brought a smile to me.

We used to go to Mexico all the time, Cabo or Mazatlan it was, PV sometimes. We have recently mentioned going back down there.

You inspire me - us after I read this to Rob.

Happy Holidays, yours sounded great.
