I had posted about this on the Gold Star forum but now that we returned last night, I am posting it here as well.

FAAT stands for First All American Trip as Judith and I took a road trip from Winter Park, FL up to the NYC area and back using older US routes and not the interstates to take in the countryside. Using the knowledge and skills we have honed during European vacations, we packed light (one small rolling bag apiece) and did laundry along the way. We asked for recommendations on restaurants and found some really great ones!!! Pig

Our path took us up I-95 to Wilson, NC where we jumped off to head East to go over the Chesapeake Bay bridge tunnel and up to NY. We took in a Yankee game (one more for the final season at the old stadium) and then we went West to Williamsport PA where Judith is from to do some nostalgia. From there we went south to Charlottesville, VA and to see Monticello. Then back east to US Route 17 and home.

We enjoyed the trip so much we are going to do it again in other trips.

However, we need to post reviews, ALL OF US, on the great local restaurants where we live so when we all make this type trip here in the USA, we can all know where to eat to get some great meals!!! We'll post reviews on ours soon... along with a trip report!!

It's great to be home and on a diet!!!

Excellent idea about the restaurants, Doug. I look forward to seeing the reviews.

Did you stay in any interesting hotels?

Shannon,

I have to admit, we focused more on the restaurants than the hotels. We hit mostly Hampton Inn's as Judith is not a B&B person especially when you are hitting one city/one night stay, it's a lot of traveling.

Besides, the Hampton's, though pricey, are consistent and are pretty much in most towns we found.

I wholeheartedly support your idea that people write reviews of their local restaurants. Thanks, Doug.
