Where is the best area to stay (ie: hotel, bb motor inn) in S.F and why?
I like the Wharf area, but is this a good place at night? Also is Lombard Street a good area? I am traveling with a teenager, we like to walk and jump on the cable cars too. Enjoy culture, food and shopping. I like to keep the car parked and move locally at night.

This topic has been discussed several times on this forum. If you go to "FIND" at the top of the posts, you can enter your question and see what has been said before. What is "best" depends on a number of factors, including interests, cost, etc.

Personally, although they are a bit higher in cost than some other areas, I'd prefer to stay near Union Square or Nob Hill, because they are central and transportation is easily available, including the cable cars. Others like the Wharf, which may be more fun for a teenager. But try to find what has been said before.

P.S. Here's one such discussion. There are more. I'd still recommend Union Square because you can get anywhere else from there rather easily.
