I'm posting this site for Doug, who lives in this area of Eastern Ontario and is working on promoting the beautiful and historic Rideau Lakes region as a UNESCO Heritage Site:

It is a very nice place to visit even before it is cited as a Heritage Site, near Ottawa and Kingston, not very far from Montréal.

Doug, I trust you have been to Forfar cheese?

Another very pretty town in the area is Merrickville, not far south of Ottawa.

I've just learned the there will not likely be any news about the World Heritage designation until mid-2007.

lagatta - I live about 10 miles from Merrickville - very busy village with lots of speciality shops. The Forfar cheese factory is about 20 minutes away just off Hwy 15.
