We are planning a trip to New York in August and would like to visit the World Trade Center site but I have been unable to find out if there is still a viewing platform and if you need tickets. Does anyone have any information or know of a website where I can get some info.

Thanks Linda

Here's an article about the viewing platform. According to it:

quote:
The platform has been moved from its original location at Broadway and Fulton Streets to Liberty Street just around the corner. It is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., seven days a week. Tickets are no longer required to access the viewing platform.

I'm assuming it's still accurate.

You don't even really need the viewing platform anymore (and I'm not sure its still there). The streets are all open and you can walk around the fencing of the site, its not very crowded. They've started some construction in the site itself, its no longer an empty space. However the memorial with names is still up and I imagine will remain up until the permanent memorial is in place.

Ditto that. We were there in late June. Frankly, it looks like a construction site. However, the hushed, respectful demeanor of the visitors makes it anything but an ordinary construction site.

Yes, looks like a construction site. I was there last Sunday, for the first time after the 9/11 and I couldn't help but cry. It was a very strange mix of emotions... the best and the worst... I used to work across the street (130 Liberty), get off the train 1 or 9 at the Towers for 3 years until we moved back to Park Avenue. The building is still there but some repair work still going on.
