My older brother is turning 65 in August. He and his wife have a summer place in West Dennis, Cape Cod, near Bass River, and my younger brother & I were thinking it would be fun to celebrate on the water.

Does anyone know of a good restaurant that is on a boat or float or island in that vicinity, or would any such be mainly a gimmick?

Any other ideas??

Thanks!

One of my favorite is Baxter's in Hyannis.

It's not too formal, kind of a fried seafood joint, but it's been there forever, and it's good.

Nice place to go for a lunch. It's built entirely over the water.

Thanks, Cape Coral!

I looked at their website and it does seem like a possibility, especially with a personal recommendation as to the food, which is what you never know about with these "on the water" places. Also, it's not too far from West Dennis.

Another thought I had on looking at the website for Laura & Tony's, which is reviewed on ST as an excellent breakfast place, was to get the dinner catered. They don't do such small gatherings, but recommended Chef on Call, which could do either a clambake w/lobsters, shrimp, corn &c. or a formal dinner. They end up being pretty expensive after everything is added in, but so does eating at a restaurant. Does anyone have experience with them?
