Very good friends of mine, Dana and Ron from Portland, left this week on a one year sailing adventure. Ron has retired and Dana is taking a sabbatical from her teaching job, and they are sailing from Portland, down the coast, to Mexico, and even further. The boat will end up next summer moored in Mexico.

Pauline from Slow Travelers

Pauline, I know of a similar situation on the East Coast. A local high school teacher has taken a one year leave of absence so she and her husband can sail along the coast to the Carribean. Even more ambitious though was a couple my husband met at a piloting course. These two people were embarking on a round the world cruise on their sailboat. What explorers they are!!!
