You can make the trip in an "upscale shuttlebus!"

(The website claims you can book for as little as $5, but the sample itineraries I looked at all ran $45.)

Well, part of me was intrigued...say if I took a cruise out of LAX to Hawaii round trip...
I wouldn't have to drive, park my car, or deal with all the airport joys

BUT

what if there was a crying child and yapping dog
the entire trip??????

Plus, I need more than 15 min. break!!!

Personally, I'm waiting for that high-speed train, although something tells me it will be a while! Roll Eyes

Use AMTRAK... I used on THIS side of the US and was very surprised at the service and the comfort. Easy to get up and walk around and a lot more room than a bus...

We have a similar issue here in the Pacific Northwest - travel between Seattle and Portland (180 miles). The local airport shuttle has a commercial recently about the what is being advertised as the SLOG - Seattle to Portland drive. They are offering shuttle service between the two cities. The drive is always an unknown. There can be backups here in the Puget Sound area or bad back ups half way between at Centralia where the highway goes down to two lanes. A bus sounds like a nice option.

Here's a local newspaper article on the options.

I'm a huge Amtrak fan and use it all the time between Sacramento and SF, but the SF to LA trip is about 12 hours, with at least part of it on a bus anyway. It's about 7 to drive, and this bus looks to be about 7 as well.
