The website www.twenj.com (traveling with Ed and Julie) has public transportation directions to Tivoli under the excursions section. We plan to use them in June unless someone posts something better.

Wendy,
How do you find out when they run the fountains?

Hi Millie, I have learnt that the best way to find these things out is to e mail the superintendent of the property, www.villadestetivoli.infoTourist offices can be very helpful but if you check twice it can't hurt ! Wendy

I have been to Villa D'Este on numerous occasions and I have never once seen the fountains. Maybe it was a fluke? In addition, i feel the easiest public transport to/from Tivoli is the train. The train departs Roma Termini and take just under an hour to get to Tivoli. From the Tivoli station, you have about a 10 minute walk to Villa D'Este or to the bus stop to catch the bus to Hadrian's Villa.

This is for Tony da Roma. I checked the FS schedule and it shows the traisn to Tivoli leaving from Tiburtina; is that correct?

I meant to say that I have never once seen the fountains NOT working. Sometimes this fountain or that fountain would not be working but the majority were. Sorry for the mistake. hammerj, yes the departures are only from Tiburtina. Another mistake on my part. I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote that post. 2 mistakes in one little post?
