Hi there. I'm heading to Rome for a week in September and was hoping to spend a few days lazing on the beach. I've heard the Lazio region is nice and close by....any tips on where to stay?

Hi,
We only found unpleasant beaches in Lazio I'm afraid. Certainly those close to the Roman suburbs are set in very run down and quite frankly intimidating areas.
I am sure someone will know better than me.

We found quite nice beaches in the Maremma.

SPERLONGA!

also if you go there, don't miss out on the beaches that are down at the bottom of the cliffs. If you haven't been there before you may only see the beaches in the "new town" which are visible from anywhere, but there are gorgeous beaches hidden behind the cliffs that not everyone knows about or gets to. (with restaurants, bathing facilities etc...)

I agree--Sperlonga has the best beaches within 2 hours of Rome.

Another vote for Sperlonga. Also one for San Marinella.
